North Africa (RCC)
Morocco Algeria Libya and Tunisia including Gibraltar Pantelleria and the Pelagia and Malta.
The origins of this book date back to 1991 when Hans van Rijn provided information for the south-eastern shore of the Mediterranean through the RCC Pilotage Foundation.
In 2002 Graham Hutt revised this work and expanded it to include the Atlantic coast of Morocco.
Since then he has continued to travel these coasts revising and expanding his earlier work.
Now many more yachts visit North Africa with more and more people from Northern Europe and beyond where French and Italian sailors cruise or winter.
Graham Hutt has extensive knowledge of the area gained through visits with his own yacht and through his many contacts in the four North African countries Gibraltar and the two island groups included here.
In this book he gives both a description of each country and a description so that one can better understand the culture and customs of these countries.
Cruising in North Africa is different from cruising in Europe and skippers should be prepared for this both mentally and in preparing and navigating the boat. They need to accept that changes can happen quickly both politically and in infrastructure. In particular they should be aware that strong sea conditions near Atlantic coast ports can significantly affect the available water depths.
