This inland guide covers the entire Sèvre Niortaise. Although this river is navigable for large vessels as far as Niort it is hardly used by recreational boaters.
The Sèvre flows through the Marais Poitevin a beautiful extensive marshy area. The numerous side channels of the Sèvre serve to drain this wetland and are closed to large vessels. Several interesting routes through the marshlands are shown in this waterway guide which can only be navigated by small boats or canoes.
